Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty and Lower Eyelid Bags Fort Lauderdale

Dr. Felder is pleased to offer many of our patients a newer and safer technique for the removal of lower eyelid bags and puffiness. This cosmetic lower eyelid surgical technique is called a Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty. This surgery can eliminate puffy bags below your eyes- features that make you look older and more tired than you feel. This surgery is performed through the back of the lower eyelid, and there are no visible scars, thus no stitches are used. The fat is removed directly without disturbing the other structures of the eyelid. If needed the fat can also be re-positioned to hollow areas of the lower eyelid, using the same incision. The Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty approach decreases the chance of complications, as seen with the old style “skin cutting” approach.

The Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty is performed with a laser-like needle, which significantly reduces the amount of bruising and swelling. Dr. Felder has been using this technique for over 18 years and this technique has a much lower rate of producing unwanted side effects, such as scarring, pulling down of the lower eyelids (ectropion), and a “surgical look” that can result from overcorrected eyelid surgery. This is also the preferred technique for patients having repeat cosmetic lower eyelid surgery.

This revolutionary procedure is performed in our state-of-the-art in-office surgical suite using twilight (IV Sedation) anesthesia. The surgery takes about 30 minutes to perform and most patients are able to return home 30-40 minutes after the procedure.

After performing the removal of lower eyelid puffiness and bags using the no scar, no-stitch, transconjunctival approach, the skin can be tightened at the same time using the Lumenis Fractional Total FX laser. The laser resurfacing will tighten the lower eyelid skin, reducing wrinkles, and simultaneously soften the Crow’s feet. Laser wrinkle removal can rejuvenate your appearance within weeks.
