The Lumenis M22 Laser is one of their latest developments – a multifunctional aesthetic tool that achieves dramatic results for a range of skin conditions. The system provides four different processes to resolve over 30 skin conditions, including wrinkles, rosacea, age spots, vascular imperfections, pigmentation issues, and more. The M22 offers truly impressive outcomes. Multiple technologies can be implemented in just one treatment session – a powerful advantage for the patient. The M22 Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) delivers high-intensity pulses of visible light directly onto the skin to reduce brown spots, red vessels and the early signs of aging. This results in a glowing, smoother tone and more even texture to the skin.
Photorejuvenation is achieved by using varied wavelengths of light energy that target multiple skin concerns simultaneously. The energy is localized to the uppermost layer of skin (epidermis) and works by constricting blood vessels and breaking down and lifting excess pigmentation.
Some mild redness and swelling may occur for the first 1-2 days and the pigmented areas may darken for up to one week. However, most people can cover any imperfections with light powder make-up. This treatment does not require any time off work for recovery.
The M22 ResurFX is the newest technology and next generation of photorejuvenation. It uses a non-ablative technique that allows light energy to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin (dermis) without actually cutting the surface of the skin. The laser creates channels of heat that are surrounded by normal skin. Through the body’s natural healing process, new skin cells are regenerated. New elastic and collagen fibers are produced. This strengthens the foundation of the skin while improving the texture and tone on the surface. Resurfx© is used to improve wrinkles and fine lines including vertical lip lines around the mouth and crow’s feet around the eyes, and soften the appearance of scars and stretch marks, including acne scars (one of the best available treatments currently available for this), and surgical scars, improve skin texture and tone, reduce sun-induced brown spots, refine pores, and promote collagen production in the skin. Non-ablative fractional laser is one of the best available treatments on the market for visible improvement with minimal downtime.
As the light energy is penetrating into the deeper levels of the skin, some mild discomfort is associated with the treatment. Therefore, a topical numbing cream is applied 30 minutes prior. There will be some redness and swelling for 1-2 days. Some mild peeling and dryness can be expected for 3-4 days.
The Lumenis® Photofractional™ or PhotoFabulous™ treatment is a complete skin rejuvenation solution, enabling Dr. Felder to offer you remarkable results on a range of skin aging concerns such as age and sun spots, vascular lesions, uneven texture and skin tone. Our unique rejuvenation technology includes two solutions, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and ResurFX™ non-ablative skin resurfacing, so that both skin tone and texture can be treated in the same session.
Lumenis® IPL technology removes both unwanted pigmentation and blood vessels from the skin, while the ResurFX™ fractional laser stimulates the production of new collagen and elastic fibers in the deeper layers of the skin. Stimulating new collagen production is the key to a more radiant, youthful-looking skin.

Resurfx© can be combined with an IPL photo facial for a Photofractional treatment that addresses multiple skin concerns in a single procedure that takes 25-30 minutes to complete. The IPL targets brown and red discoloration of the skin such as sun-induced brown spots, tiny blood vessels (telangiectasias), and rosacea, while the Resurfx works on fine lines and wrinkles, rough skin texture, and mild scarring. The downtime for the combined procedure is similar to the Resurfx© procedure on its own.
When will I see results? The Lumenis® Photofractional™ treatment works with your skin to stimulate deep collagen regeneration over a sequence of treatments. Already after the first session, you may begin to notice an improvement in skin tone and pigmentation. Typically, about 3 sessions are needed to have visible improvement in the skin texture. Optimal results are typically achieved after 3-4 sessions in 4-6 weeks intervals. However, you may continue to see improvements for up to six months following the treatment. What can I expect after treatment? Immediately following treatment, you may experience some redness or swelling, depending on your customized treatment settings. The swelling will usually diminish after a few hours and the redness as quickly as the next day or over the next few days. Most patients are able to resume their daily activities the very same day. Our patients are advised to stay out of the direct sun for a few days following the treatment and to apply sunscreen.
